At The Useless Project, we believe that the world’s biggest problems, climate change, overconsumption, burnout, disconnection, aren’t just environmental, they’re human. When we feel lost, when we don’t know where to start, when everything feels too big to fix, it’s creativity and community that bring us back.
This is ultimately why Geraldine Carton and I founded The Useless Project back in 2018 as a space to reconnect - with people, planet & creativity. Through workshops, flea markets, events, and creative projects, we help people find joy in rethinking waste, making things with their hands, and coming together to learn, share, and take action.
Sustainability isn’t about doom and gloom or doing everything perfectly. It’s about small, meaningful steps that create big, lasting change, for ourselves and the world around us.

Abit about me- I started out in podcasting, studying audio documentary in Chicago, but after a few years in the field, I found myself craving community and purpose. At the same time, I was waking up to the urgency of the climate crisis, so I pivoted to running sustainability events with my pal Geraldine and that’s how The Useless Project was born.
Flash forward 8 years, Geraldine has parted with The Useless Project to become a full time artist (she is UNBELIEVABLE, check her out on Insta @GeraldineCarton) and I have just moved home from Lisbon where I have been living for the past 2 years diving into the world of ceramics. While the change was refreshing, I’ve realised how much I miss being part of a close-knit community and working towards something bigger.
So now, I’m back in the Midlands, with a ceramics studio in a wonderful community space called Cuige and practising what I preach - connecting with people, planet & creativity all over again.
