Learn to adapt your clothes for all body types with hands-on sewing techniques in our inclusive, sustainable fashion workshop

As part of Design Week, The Useless Project presents Cut from the Same Cloth: Adapting Fashion for Every Body, a hands-on workshop dedicated to making sustainable fashion more inclusive.

The fashion industry often excludes diverse body types and individuals with disabilities, and sustainable fashion is no exception. Our mission is to bridge that gap, empowering everyone to take part in the circular fashion movement, regardless of size, shape, or ability.

Across two rolling sessions, you will bring garments you already own, items that don’t quite fit or need modifications, and learn adaptive fashion techniques to make them wearable again. From hemming sleeves for wheelchair users, to adding panels for plus-size clothing, to adjusting trousers for amputees, this workshop shows how creativity and inclusivity can extend the life of clothing.

Alongside practical demonstrations, beginner-friendly sewing tutorials give you foundational skills for alterations like hemming and taking in seams. Our expert seamstresses are on hand throughout, offering guidance for more complex adjustments and one-to-one advice.

This workshop welcomes anyone who has struggled to find clothes that fit well or wants to explore adaptive, sustainable fashion. You will leave with new skills, refitted garments, and the confidence to make sustainable fashion truly for everybody.
