Design, craft, and bind your very own journal using recycled and low-waste materials.

At the dreamy surrounds of the Hugh Lane Gallery, The Useless Project presents a Journal-Making Workshop where you design and craft a personalised notebook from scratch.

This creative, low-waste workshop guides you through simple bookbinding techniques such as folding, stitching, or stapling, to assemble pages into a unique journal. Covers are made using reclaimed materials including cereal boxes, old book pages, cardboard offcuts, and fabric scraps.

To bring your creation to life, a collage station is set up with stamps, scrap paper, thread, and wallpaper, giving you the tools to decorate and customise your journal. Optional creative prompt pages can be added, transforming your notebook into a space for reflection, writing, and self-expression.

Tickets (€20) include all tools and materials plus a drink of choice (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). You will leave with a beautiful, handmade journal and the skills to create more at home.
